Welcome to the library
The Blue Valley
School library provides complete media services to students from Montessori
(Preschool) through High School. The collection of books supporting our
curriculum totals more than 21,000 printed and non-printed sources: videos, electronic books, audiovisuals and a periodical collection
boasting magazines and newspapers reflecting the latest in scientific, socio-political
and art news. The library includes several sections. A mezzanine for multiple purposes, such as: presentations, lectures
and a reading lounge. The Virtual Room for the IB Program examinations, conferences and other
student presentations. In addition there are 19 high speed Mac computers with
Internet and a staff of three librarians to assist students. Literature
appreciation including Poetry and Reading Wokshops, and Information Literacy Skills
are taught in Elementary and Middle School. Our Montessori students enjoy the
exclusive use of the Book Balcony where books, displays and reading areas have been designed to invite young children to begin
exploring the magical world of literature and the pleasures of reading.
Students learn Library and information Skills in Elementary, and advance to
Research Skills classes in Middle School. Our Goal is to be able to access and
interpret knowledge at the most optimum level.
