Fostering Mental & Emotional Well-Being

Fostering Mental & Emotional Well-Being

We take pride in our proactive approach to pastoral care, equipping our staff to handle a wide range of situations that may arise within our school community. Our dedicated team is prepared to address everyday concerns and recognize signs of discomfort, responding promptly and effectively. Every staff member undergoes rigorous training to become a trusted "safe guardian," reflecting our principle of "every adult's responsibility."

Our commitment extends beyond immediate solutions. Supporting our students' mental and emotional health is integral to their overall development. Therefore, our staff is trained to not only identify potential mental health challenges but also offer a supportive hand when needed most.

Comprehensive Pastoral Care Programs & Support Services

At Blue Valley, each student's emotional well-being is crucial for their academic success and their overall personal development. Through personalized support, guidance, and a variety of resources, we strive to ensure that every student feels valued, understood, and empowered to reach their full potential. We care deeply about the well-being of our students and are here to support them every step of the way.

What we do:

We provide individual and group counseling, working closely with teachers and parents to offer socio-emotional support to our students and their families.

We teach our students coping skills and provide strategies to help them manage specific situations, regulate their emotions, and solve problems.

Our students have access to the Closegap application, allowing immediate communication with our pastoral care team, who closely monitor students' emotional well-being and intervene promptly when support is needed.

We mediate conflicts between students and help them develop effective problem-solving skills.

We are vigilant in monitoring our students and maintain constant communication with teachers to create programs that prevent various types of abuse.

We offer workshops from ELS to High School to teach children about bullying prevention, sexual abuse prevention, internet safety, and health and wellness education. For parents, workshops address transitions and specific generational topics.

We track student academic progress and intervene when necessary to help students stay on track.

The pastoral care team collaborates with teachers to develop and execute action plans tailored to meet the needs of our students.

Blue Valley School's mainstreaming policy prepares special needs students for the academic program without significant curriculum adjustments. Our guidance staff collaborates with students and teachers to meet individual needs, offering language support in both English and Spanish and psycho-pedagogical orientation.

We work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to identify students needing emotional support and provide guidance on how to support these students effectively.

We regularly provide training for teachers and staff on recognizing signs of emotional distress and supporting students, focusing on care and positive behavioral interventions.

We maintain close contact with parents and guardians, providing them with resources and strategies to support their child's emotional well-being and keeping them informed about their child's progress and any concerns.

We offer counseling and personalized support plans, collaborating with staff to ensure a safe environment and maintaining open communication with parents.

The main objective of applying restorative practices at Blue Valley is to contribute to repairing or building relationships and to strengthen the sense of community. Circles are part of daily life at Blue Valley.
