PROGRAMS

Blue Valley is recognized with corresponding programs by the Ministerio de Educación Pública de Costa Rica (MEP) and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). It is also authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to offer the program that prepares students to obtain the IB Diploma or chosen certificates.

1. A BACHILLERATO DIPLOMA is obtained when passing the government (Ministerio de Educación Pública) mandated exams at the end of eleventh grade.
2. A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA is obtained when fulfilling Blue Valley School’s requirements at the end of the eleventh or twelfth grade and taking a one-year U.S. history course as an overload at any level from ninth to twelfth. From ninth to eleventh, 252 periods (42 a week during each of six semesters) plus the 32 eighth grade credits, complete the required 284 credits to graduate from Blue Valley.
3. An IB DIPLOMA is obtained after four semesters with the international program, which has special requirements. It begins in Tenth A, with some preparation prerequisites, and final tests are taken at the end of one semester in twelfth grade.

Blue Valley also belongs to ACEP (Asociación de Centros Educativos Privados) a Costa Rican Private Schools’ Association.
